Anti-wear solutions for preparation, transport, and screening
Anti-wear glass processing and scrap recycling | Transportation and contamination control SARO
In the glass and scrap recycling industry, wear primarily affects the stages where raw materials and cullet are received, conveyed, separated, and stored. In these plants, the regularity of the flow and the protection of the most stressed points are important, but they must always be evaluated alongside the compatibility of the materials used with the glass manufacturing process. Batch preparation and cullet treatment systems are, in fact, designed to ensure mixture quality and contaminant removal before feeding the furnace.
A first sensitive area concerns the preparation and transfer of the glass mixture, where hoppers, discharge points, conveying surfaces, and loading systems are subject to continuous wear. A second area concerns glass recycling, where the cullet must be selected, cleaned, and made suitable for remelting, with particular attention to the removal of unwanted contaminants. The presence of ceramics, stones, porcelain, and heat-resistant glass is recognized in the industry as one of the most significant critical issues for the quality of recycled glass.
For this reason, in the glass sector, the choice of wear-resistant materials requires particular attention. Ceramic solutions can only be used in areas where there is no risk of product or cullet contamination. Where such a risk may exist, SARO adopts alternative materials, selected according to the application and operating conditions. This distinction is essential in a supply chain where ceramic contaminants themselves are normally removed to avoid defects in the final product.
In this context, SARO offers anti-wear solutions for the glass sector with applications dedicated to areas where the material generates the most wear, especially during transfer, distribution, selection, and storage phases.
SARO can intervene in particular on:
- Chutes and transfer points
- conveying and distributing surfaces for material
- Loading and unloading systems
- lines dedicated to the treatment and transfer of cullet
- intake and particulate management circuits
SARO's value, therefore, lies in its ability to identify, point by point, the most suitable solution: ceramic where applicable without risk, alternative materials where contamination must be avoided. It is with this approach that SARO supports glass processing and cullet recycling, with solutions consistent with the real needs of the process.
