In the glass and scrap recycling industry, wear primarily affects the stages where raw materials and cullet are received, conveyed, separated, and stored. In these plants, the regularity of the flow and the protection of the most stressed points are important, but they must always be evaluated alongside the compatibility of the materials used with the glass manufacturing process. Batch preparation and cullet treatment systems are, in fact, designed to ensure mixture quality and contaminant removal before feeding the furnace.

A first sensitive area concerns the preparation and transfer of the glass mixture, where hoppers, discharge points, conveying surfaces, and loading systems are subject to continuous wear. A second area concerns glass recycling, where the cullet must be selected, cleaned, and made suitable for remelting, with particular attention to the removal of unwanted contaminants.
